Karishma is a qualified Occupational Therapist at The London Children’s Practice. She obtained her Bachelors in Occupational Therapy at the University of Pretoria in South Africa (SA) in 2016.
She completed her community service year at a government hospital in Middleburg, Mpumalanga in SA. Here she gained experience working in a multi-disciplinary team and treating a variety of diagnoses. She worked with both adult and paediatric clients, treating a variety of diagnoses. She also worked in rural clinics in under-privileged areas outside of the hospital. Thereafter, she worked at a government school for autistic children. She predominantly treated younger children but was exposed to older teenagers and adults. She furthered her skills by being trained in Makaton. After this she went on to open her own therapy practice in South Africa and working with children from all walks of life. She is busy specializing in Ayres Sensory Integration from The South African Institute of Sensory Integration (SAISI). She has been trained in using The Sensory Integration and Praxis tests (SIPT) as well as the latest Evaluation of Ayres Sensory Integration assessment (EASI).
Karishma experience thus far has equipped her with assessing and providing treatment for a variety of diagnoses including autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, dyslexia, sensory processing disorder, down syndrome, intellectual disability, high risk babies, developmental delays and cerebral palsy to name a few. She has also provided caregiver, parent and teacher training in various settings.
Karishma is registered as an Occupational Therapist at the Health Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the United Kingdom.
Outside of work, Karishma enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading and travelling.
