Dyslexia Assessments

Age Range: 8-11 years

Designed for: Families

Before the assessment takes place, we gather relevant information from parents and school staff to serve as background information. Our therapists then assess the child’s cognitive skills – including evaluating aptitude for learning (IQ), working memory, processing speed and phonological awareness – and attainment skills, including reading, writing, handwriting speed and, potentially, mathematics.

Following the assessment, we provide a diagnosis of dyslexia (if applicable), identify strengths, areas for improvement, and recommend learning support strategies.

We may also refer to other specialists such as Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists for a more comprehensive understanding of their needs and additional support strategies.

Dyslexia Assessments can look at:

  • Working memory
  • Processing speed
  • Phonological awareness
  • Reading
  • Writing
