Autism Plus + services

Our Autism Plus+ service provides assessment and intervention for children who may be on the Autistic Spectrum, have a related disorder or already have a diagnosis but need support and planned intervention.

The Autistic “Spectrum” can include children who may have Autism, Asperger Syndrome or autistic features. The use of “spectrum” reflects the considerable differences in individual children. However all share certain features and have difficulties in:–

  • Social Communication
  • Social Interaction
  • Imaginative play and flexibility of thought

Our Autism Plus+ service seeks to work with all children on the Autistic Spectrum and provide a thorough intervention service to support the child both at school and within the home. Many families of children with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder have lengthy waiting periods for a diagnosis and experience a shortage of follow up services. The results can be both frustrating and stressful for the family.

Our Autism Plus+ Service seeks to provide families with a fast and responsive programme of support and intervention reducing stress and improving the life of the child and in doing so that of the entire family.

Our Service draws expertise from the London Children’s Practice and includes the following:-

  • A Comprehensive Assessment.
  • A multi-disciplinary diagnostic service provided by a specialist multi-disciplinary team which may include – Consultant Paediatric Neurologist, Consultant Psychiatrist, Educational Psychologist, Speech and Language therapist and Occupational therapist.
  • Follow up Advice and Recommendations.
  • A post diagnostic package of support and intervention for each child and their family.
  • A range of ongoing intervention to meet each child’s individual needs.
  • Establishing augmentative communication systems to help the child develop an understanding of language and an ability to communicate.
  • Sensory Integration Therapy to work on hyper sensitivities to touch, sounds, smells, tastes and textures. This includes specialist feeding programmes for selective eaters.
  • Social communication nursery groups (2-5 years).
  • Social Skills Groups (age 5 plus).
